The First National Bank, Granite City, Illinois. Listed in the 1912 Polk’s Tri-cities directory at 1237 Niedringhaus Avenue. The building appears in an ad appearing in the 1912 Polk’s Tri-cities directory giving the address as 19th and Niedringhaus Avenue and proclaimed it "oldest bank in the tri-cities". According to the book ,Granite City : a pictorial history, this was the first bank chartered and was located at Cleveland and Niedringhaus Avenue in 1900. Mark Henson was the first president. The second bank chartered in 1903 was called Granite City National Bank. These two banks consolidated in 1931 during the Depression under the name First Granite City National Bank.
