324 Virginia Avenue

Taken in Clarksville, Virginia--this group ends the series. This 1914 building was possibly built by H. A. Poole who built the Planters Bank next door. I was unable to find out why the name Blanks is on the building. It served as a dry goods store, grocery, confectioner’s shop; at one time a movie theater was on the 2nd floor. It’s now the home of the restaurant Gino’s Pizza. The building is 2-story brick, divided into 4 bays, separated by brick pilasters extending from ground to cornice. It has a bracketed metal cornice and molded brick frieze. The central pediment with Blanks has collapsed and sits on roof, The 2nd-story windows have round arched heads with brick drip molds and limestone sills. The entrance to upper floors is in the center, recessed with arched transom. VDHR ID: 192-0121-0011. This structure was added June 6, 2002 to the National Register of Historic Places as part of Clarksville Historic District, reference ID #02000625
